Matthew 7:6 reads, “Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them with their feet and turn and tear you in pieces.”
Matthew 10:14 AMP reads, “Whoever does not welcome you, nor listen to your message, as you leave that house or city, shake the dust of it off your feet in contempt, breaking all ties.”
Some of us are guilty of giving what is holy to dogs and casting our pearls before swine. What this simply means is that we don’t recognize and appreciate our value and what God has placed inside us; so we end up giving of ourselves to people who don’t value us or what’s inside us.
When this happens, what do you do?
Jesus was very clear in what He told His disciples in Matthew 10:14. He said if you go into a town and they reject you, shake the dust off your feet and keep it moving. Meaning, make sure when you leave you don’t take/keep ANYTHING with you from that town; not even the dust. The same applies to your situations where your “pearls” and those “holy things” (your gifts, talents, anointing, calling) are rejected, undervalued, or underappreciated. Shake the dust off your feet and move on.
Listen to the recording of last night’s Midnight Cry prayer call for keys on knowing when it’s time to move on.
“Surely He shall deliver you from the snare (trap set for birds) of the fowler (the one who sets the trap) and from the noisome pestilence (harsh, hurtful, injurious wind; a fatal disease; something intended to harm or kill; an assault against your spirit).” – Psalm 91:3
The intention of the fowler (whatever the trap he uses) is to limit the movement of or detain the bird, and ultimately kill it. The “fowler of our souls” (satan) wants to prevent us from growing (moving) in God and from fulfilling our purpose in God. If he can ensnare us and keep us bound, he’ll eventually weaken us to the point of death. If he can keep you bound in your past…. If he can keep regurgitating past mistakes and cause you to feel like you haven’t grown or haven’t moved, he’ll prevent you from accomplishing all God has for you.
But, glory to God, Psalm 124:6-8 says, “Blessed be the Lord who has NOT given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowler. The snare is BROKEN, and we have ESCAPED. Our HELP is in the Name of the Lord, who made Heaven and earth.”

Proverbs 25:28 says “Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls.” The Greek word for discipline comes from the root word krat, which denotes power or lordship. So, self-discipline means to exercise power or lordship over your own self (i.e. every member of your body, including your thoughts, will, and emotions).
How’s your self-discipline?
The world screams, “It’s YOUR life, do whatever makes you happy!” But for believers, the message is “It’s GOD’s life, do whatever makes Him happy!” For we know our lives don’t belong to us, but to Christ (1 Corinthians 6:20).
So, last night’s MNC Prayer Call dealt with the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) of Self-Discipline/Self-Control. As believers, we often pray for deliverance, but don’t practice/exercise the discipline needed to stay delivered.
Listen to last night’s recording where God spoke in a very clear and practical way. I pray the teaching blesses you!
There were some technical difficulties with the Midnight Cry prayer call tonight (03/17/16), so I’ve uploaded the recording here for those who missed it. We discussed the Fruit of the Spirit and taught from Galatians 5 and 1 Corinthians 13.
We need the FRUIT of the Spirit to help us operate effectively in the GIFTS of the Spirit!
Join us on the Midnight Cry prayer call every Tuesday and Thursday at 12am EST (11pm CST).
For those who missed tonight’s Midnight Cry prayer call on Isaiah 6:1, I’ve uploaded the unedited periscope recording.
I’ve also uploaded the flyer for the prayer call, for those who are new to my blog. Join me and about 100 other people from the United States, Canada, the U.K., the Caribbean, and South Africa every Tuesday and Thursday night at midnight EST (11pm CST) as we share an encouraging Word from the Lord and petition His throne together. I’d love to pray with and for you!
